Transforming education - a strategy that works

Improving schools in general, and schools in challenging circumstances in particular,  has been a key component of the Ontario improvement strategy.  This keynote will describe Ontario's story and the lessons learned in improving student achievement without rancour or the ranking of schools. Having a laser-like focus on the groups that were not achieving was important in closing achievement gaps  Dr. Glaze will also demonstrate the power of capacity building in ensuring that teachers and principals have the will and skill to improve their schools, to achieve both excellence and equity and to ensure that public education realizes its full potential. There should no longer be excuses.  The life chances of students are at stake.

The role of holistic education, character development and the education of boys will be discussed as we prepare students for their future role as responsible and caring citizens who think critically, feel deeply and act wisely and ethically.
