Data use for school improvement
From research in a few best practice schools we know that principals and teachers can use data to improve the functioning of the school in terms of increased student achievement. However, many schools are not able to use data properly, or do not use data at all. This seminar firstly introduces participants into the conceptual frameworks related to data use and invites them to reflect upon (the use of) data that are currently already available in their own educational context. Afterwards attention is given to lessons from data use research. We identify what is known about data use in schools and what the participants can learn from these experiences (for instance concerning the (non) use of data, concerning how to explain differences in data use and concerning prerequisites that should be in place.)
